Qualification outline
The course is made up of 4 mandatory units:
- Unit 1 Introduction to the Health &
Safety at Work Act (1974).
- Unit 2 Hazards, risks and risk
assessment.
- Unit 3 Electricity, hazardous substances
and fire safety.
- Unit 4 Work equipment, personal protective
equipment and first aid
Who should attend?
Ideal for those who have a basic understanding of Health &
Safety issues but wish to progress; to develop and expand their
knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety in the
workplace.
Aim of the course
The qualification aim is to improve and expand on your current
knowledge; leading to a better understanding of what promotes a
healthy and safe working environment.

Duration
The course can be delivered as a 3 day course at the HUB,
alternatively delivered in the workplace with regular visits by an
assessor.
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required. However, it would be
advisable to have a basic understanding of health and safety in the
workplace.
Progression
On completion of this course, learners could progress to Level 3
H&S qualification.
