Outline of Program

A City & Guilds 7579-02-201 2D Level 2 CAD Distance Learning Course tailored to suit learners seeking to gain experience in the use of AutoCAD.

 

Aimed at those wishing to obtain an introductory City & Guilds CAD qualification without having to attend a formal course of study on a regular full or part-time basis. Each learner is supplied with the coursework material and registration with City & Guilds.

 

Learners will need access to a computer work station running AutoCAD and must attend Doncaster College ICT Academy’s Autodesk Authorised Training Centre for one full day when ready to take the final assessments. City & Guilds Certificates are awarded when the learner has successfully completed all the assessments. Learners work at their own pace, but must complete within 9 months of enrolment on the course.

 

Entry Requirements

Initially none although some prior knowledge of computers and drawing would be useful.

 

Who Should Attend?

This introductory level module is ideal for beginners and first time users of AutoCAD.

 

Aim of Course

On completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Use associated IT, CAD hardware and operating systems
  • Use basic file management techniques and maintain health and safety requirements
  • Use and identify key components of the software relating to the 2D drawing environment
  • Use a range of viewing commands and setup the drawing space
  • Use drawing commands to produce shapes
  • Use the CAD software’s coordinate system to aid accurate drawing
  • Use hatch, text and simple dimensioning routines
  • Use basic editing commands and produce simple hard copies.
